Welcome to Miss Martin's First Grade Class

Hello! Welcome to the 1E family! I am thrilled to be a part of your child's life this year. Please feel free to come visit our class in September after we have established our classroom routines. I would love for you to come help within our classroom, or even stop by for lunch. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to call or e-mail me.

Homework:
In our classroom I will send home homework for the week. Please check your child's homework folder at the beginning of each week. They are expected to do a little homework each night. Along with homework they are expected to read at least two books on their individual reading level and this should be recorded into their reading logs. Once school starts, homework and newsletters will be posted in case it is misplaced, you can easily download and print.

Miss Martin's Tuesday News:
Tuesday News is a great way for you to keep up with important things happening around the school as well as within our own classroom. There you will find a student of the week with a their top writing story, as well as weekly goals, field trips, and other important information. So please keep an eye out!

Fruit for the Brain:
Due to our early lunchtime, I like to implement "Fruit for the Brain". This is something one of my other schools came up with and I love it! We will have a fruit basket in our classroom for students to snack on at anytime throughout the day as long as they are using our procedures. I ask for fruit donations to keep our basket full. Usually, I have left over fruit from my basket at home and bring it in at the end of the week. Please do not feel like you have to bring fruit, it is clearly volunteer. It is just a creative way in which our babies don't starve throughout the day, while instilling with healthier eating habits. My students in the past loved this, and I am confident you will too.

Technology Resources:
Below you will find some websites to assist your students learning. It is a good idea to use these as tools to supplement what we do in our classroom each day. Enjoy! Please note your child will come home with our classroom Log In information.
